When traveling abroad on a business trip, something as simple as a handshake introduction between new colleagues becomes an incredibly nuanced mini-event, capable of setting the convivial foundation necessary to strike a deal, or sabotaging the whole thing before you ever discuss page one of the docket. In Turkey, handshakes are to be distributed to a room in order of seniority. In Singapore it is considered rude to perform anything other than a soft-touch shake with skin contact that lingers long enough to make anyone from the U.S. feel slightly awkward. House Vote to Tighten Enrollment in TSA Expedited Screening | |
WASHINGTON – Applying for the Transportation Security Administration's expedited screening program would get easier under a bill the House approved Tuesday, but frequent fliers would need to provide more information about themselves to continue participating. The Senate still needs to consider the legislation. If passed, the measure requires the TSA to develop online enrollment standards for Precheck within 90 days. The TSA — whose officers currently check travel documents by hand — would also have to experiment on an automated system for reviewing travel documents for Precheck members within a year, and to establish an automated system at large hub airports to verify travelers who aren't members of Precheck by the end of 2017. Customs and Border Protection’s similar trusted-traveler program, Global Entry, processes passengers by scanning their fingerprints at airport kiosks. Continue Reading>> |
